Financial Aid For International Students

(For students who are not U.S. citizens or
U.S. permanent residents)

Introduction

Each year, Bryn Mawr awards a few scholarships to outstanding international applicants (those who do not hold a U.S. passport, are not permanent residents of the U.S. and who could not otherwise attend the College without financial assistance). The amount awarded varies according to the financial need of the applicant and full demonstrated need may be met. Competition for these awards is exceptionally keen because funding for non-U.S. citizens is limited.

Students not awarded aid at entrance will not be awarded aid for any of the following years.

Note: A student whose citizenship status changes to U.S. citizen, U.S. permanent resident, or other citizenship status that is eligible to apply for U.S. Federal aid, is no longer eligible to receive funds as an International student and must notify the Financial Aid Office of her change in citizenship status immediately. Once a student become eligible to apply for U.S. federal funds, she must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, and the CSS PROFILE and she will be reconsidered for aid from the College on the same basis as other domestic students. Please, refer to the How to Apply page for incoming, domestic students.

Outside Scholarships: Some international students receive outside scholarship assistance through government organizations, high school or other private donors and agencies. Outside scholarship must be reported on the CSS Foreign Student Financial Aid Application. If an International student receives an outside scholarship after completing the CSS Foreign Student Application, she must report the award as soon as possible to the Financial Aid Office, so an adjustment to her Bryn Mawr award offer can be made. The amount of outside scholarship will reduce an equal amount of Bryn Mawr International Grant.

* A note for US citizens living abroad:
Whether living in the U.S. or living abroad, all U.S. citizens are eligible for the full range of institutional as well as federal aid programs. Please refer to How to Apply page for more information.
