Social Media Specialist

The Position

The Office of College Communications tells the story of Bryn Mawr College—clearly, consistently, and compellingly—to a variety of audiences. The mission of the communications office is to promote awareness and recognition of Bryn Mawr College and its community of student scholars, faculty, staff, and alumnae/i.

The Social Media Specialist, reporting to the News Director, is the primary content creator for and manager of Bryn Mawr’s official social media accounts. The Social Media Specialist generates, edits, and publishes content (text, graphics, images, video, etc.) that builds audience and meaningful connections to and between key audiences for the college.

Primary responsibilities will include plan and execute institutional social media presence on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, and other platforms, generating and publishing daily content, attend campus events, occasionally at night or on the weekends, develops the social media strategy and posting calendar, capture and share relevant content, monitor official college social media accounts, responding to questions, offering customer service, propose and write website articles, conduct interviews and undertake research, manages a group of student content creators, other duties as assigned.

Requirements include a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution, experience creating content, a comprehensive understanding of various social media platforms and how to optimize content, excellent writing, editing, and proofreading skills, experience using video and photo editing tools and Canva, experience with Adobe Creative Suite preferred.  A willingness to monitor social media accounts outside of business hours as needed. Schedule: Full-time, 12-month, hybrid 1 day per week remote/ 4 days on-campus work schedule, which is subject to college policy; may include evening and weekend commitments.
