Canaday 315 has 24 laptops with mutli-lingual text editing and digital audio and video software, wired and wireless network connectivity, a laser printer, and a presentation station with a computer, digital projector, and a region-free, multi-standard DVD/VHS video player. Bryn Mawr faculty and staff may reserve this room for classes and meetings by contacting the Director or by making a reservation request online via Virtual EMS. In addition to its technology resources, Canaday 315 also houses the LLC’s collections of audio and video recordings, reference books, and course reserves.
Canaday 311, our video viewing room, has a large screen television, a region-free, multi-standard DVD/VHS video player, and international satellite television receivers. Bryn Mawr faculty, staff, and students may reserve this room on Tripod for group screenings, and, when not in use, it is available on a first come, first served basis for video viewing. The key is at the Circulations Desk on Canaday’s first floor.
The LLC's computers have web cameras and headsets with microphones. Room 315 also has a digital projector and a multi-standard, region-free DVD/VCR for group screenings of foreign videos.
The LLC's audio and video recordings are cataloged in Tripod and can be checked out at Canaday Library's Circulation Desk by Tri-College faculty, staff, and students.
The LLC's reference books do not circulate and are for in-house use only. However, graduate-level language courses may have reserve materials in the LLC, and these items can be checked out at Canaday's Circulation Desk.
All new requests for online media storage will use iTunes U. Bryn Mawr's iTunes U. store is accessible only through specific Blackboard course sites. To download documents and media files posted there, please consult your instructor or the LLC Director. Older streaming audio recordings can be found via the link below.
BMC community members may watch our international satellite television stations in Canaday 311. Bryn Mawr faculty and students also may watch SCOLA online. Faculty should contact the LLC for log-in information. Please note that this is a per-use subscription, so access is limited to the Bryn Mawr academic community.
The LLC has created a virtual campus in Second Life on "Teaching 3" island's southern shore. Visitors are welcome, and classes are encouraged to use this resource for language instruction and practice. For assistance in designing learning activities in Second Life, please contact the LLC.
