Graduate Group in Science and Mathematics
The Graduate Group in Science and Mathematics (GGSM) joins the graduate programs in Chemistry, Physics and Mathematics to provide an interdisciplinary environment for sharing research, facilitating collaboration, and professional development.
Each of these departments has its own distinguished intellectual tradition, handles graduate admission separately, and awards its own M.A. and Ph.D. degrees. All graduate programs are coeducational.
The Director of GGSM, Professor Bill Malachowski, collaborates with department representatives to the Graduate Student Association (GSA) in the three departments to organize the Professional Development Workshops, in which GGSM graduate students and members of the faculty offer insights and advice about various aspects of professional practice. In the past, the GGSM also sponsored a Journal Club, in which graduate students from different disciplines would meet to discuss interdisciplinary articles.
