Bi-Co Exploring Transfer Together
The Bi-Co (Bi-College Consortium) Exploring Transfer Together program is a free, week-long immersive experience for community college students interested in transferring to a four-year liberal arts college.
Considering continuing your academic journey at a selective 4-year institution?
Join Bryn Mawr and Haverford Colleges—the Bi-College Consortium or Bi-Co—for this distinct opportunity to experience and explore what being a student in a residential liberal arts college is all about. Our Bi-Co Exploring Transfer Together program is a no-cost, 5-day residential program designed to prepare community college students for what lies ahead at a selective 4-year institution. Immerse yourself in the academic experience, network and build community, and gain skills to support your transfer success. This year's course theme will be "Global Environmental Challenges: Strategies for Communication, Collaboration, and Solutions" and will be team-taught by professors Alyson Krawchuk and Joshua Moses.
Bryn Mawr and Haverford are proud to partner with the Community College of Philadelphia and Northampton Community College for this program, but welcome applications from any community college student. This opportunity is supported, in part, by a grant from the ECMC Foundation's Exploring Transfer Together initiative at Vassar College.

Through an intensive five-day residential program and immersion in the liberal arts, Bi-Co Exploring Transfer Together enables participants to imagine the broad range of academic opportunities that lie beyond their community college years. The program will focus on three primary areas of engagement: Academics, Community, and Transfer Success. Students will engage in a 15-hour academic course co-taught by faculty from both the 4-year college and community college communities. Students will live together in a dorm on Bryn Mawr’s campus and the program will include community-building events and activities to not only create a strong network for participants but also to demonstrate the benefits of the residential aspect of most 4-year residential liberal arts colleges. The program will also include workshops and events to help students as they consider and/or navigate the transfer application process. Bi-Co Exploring Transfer Together is not a pathway program to either Bryn Mawr or Haverford and is not intended to increase a transfer applicant’s chance of admission to either institution. The program is designed to bolster the confidence and academic skills of community college transfer students.

The Bi-College Consortium, or Bi-Co for short, is a partnership between Bryn Mawr College and Haverford College. Bryn Mawr and Haverford have closely tied histories that have grown together over the last 130 years. The Quaker origins of both institutions have instilled in them common values and led to years of collaboration and partnership across institutions. By partnering together, students at both institutions have access to expanded academic and social opportunities, communities, and facilities.
The Bi-Co Exploring Transfer program is proudly funded by Bryn Mawr College and Haverford College. This opportunity is also supported, in part, by a grant from the ECMC Foundation's Exploring Transfer Together initiative at Vassar College.

Vassar’s Exploring Transfer Program Inspires Bi-Co Initiative
Cheryl Lynn Horsey, Chief Enrollment Officer at Bryn Mawr, shares: “Part of our mission is to be accessible to under-represented student populations on our campus, so we were keen to look at (creating) a program like Exploring Transfer,” Horsey said. She added she was “sold” on such an initiative after attending an event on the Vassar campus last November where Vassar administrators explained the benefits of the program to representatives of about a dozen liberal arts colleges.
