The Bi-Co Chorale seeks alums of the Bi-Co choral programs, including Chamber Singers, Chorale, and vocal studies, to participate in an exciting adventure with current students! This fall all meetings of the Bi-Co Chorale will be available in a live online format. These weekly sessions will feature singing, vocal instruction, special guests, and examination of pieces from the Renaissance through the present day based on a common theme of “peace.”

Our final project will be a virtual video of J.S. Bach’s “Dona nobis pacem” from the Immortal Mass in B Minor. We have engaged the services of a stellar video engineer to create the finished product. This video performance is not only for now—it will serve as a permanent testimony to what life has been like in 2020. What better way to leave a positive message from a turbulent year than to join in song with other Haverford and Bryn Mawr College singers, both past and present?

Here’s how it works: If you wish, you are welcome to join the Bi-Co Chorale virtually this fall. Identical sessions will be held on Wednesdays at 4-5:30 p.m. and 7-8:30 p.m. (EST), beginning on Sept. 9 and concluding on Nov. 18. We will, as part of these sessions, teach the “Dona nobis pacem.” However, the recording process will ultimately be done individually. If you prefer to prepare and record on your own and submit the finished project, I’ll provide guidelines and music for you. The recording process is straightforward and can be easily accomplished with a smartphone.

How many singers can we gather? Whether it is 20 or 200, this will surely be a remarkable way to connect generations through timeless music of peace and goodwill. For a preview of “Dona nobis pacem,” click here.

Please join us! If you’d like to take part in Chorale this fall, or just participate in the recording process, email me at nzullinger@haverford.edu. Also, please share this message to anyone we may have missed. Each voice counts as we “sing forward” to better days.
