Assistant Professor of Dance Lela Aisha Jones is Project Artistic Co-Director, along with partner Alex Shaw, for Intercultural Journeys' Media Archive Exhibition, which opens at Crane Arts in Philadelphia on Thursday, Dec. 12, 2019, and includes performances Friday through Saturday, Dec. 13-14, 2019.

The Media Archive Exhibition is a dynamic presentation of deeply personal stories and images gathered and archived during the two-year arc of Modupúe | Ibaye: The Philadelphia Yoruba Performance Project. Crafted in collaboration with Project Advisor Germaine Ingram and celebrated media artists Laura Sofía Pérez, Aidan Un, and muthi reed, this immersive exhibition artistically displays projections in conjunction with soundscapes that reflect the movement, music, history, and material culture of Yoruba-rooted communities in Philadelphia. Live activations of the space include the shared creation of a memorial to honor ancestors, guided community dialogue, and presentations and performances by renowned guests to uplift the multi-faceted existences of Yoruba-rooted practices in Philadelphia kept vibrant for generations by committed communities and organizations.
