Mady Cantor, Director of Dance, Invited Dancer in 'Connecting the Distance'

August 18, 2020

Director and Term Professor of Dance Mady Cantor performed in "Connecting the Distance," a new work from Expansions Contemporary Dance Ensemble to be presented in the 2020 Fringe Festival. Cantor worked as part of team of dancers to create dance videos for interactive walking tours in both Mt. Airy and North Philly.

A multimedia project directed by Christina Castro-TauserConnecting the Distance will present QR codes at mapped locations that link to content and performances from featured artists to be viewed on phones or other mobile devices. Ticket holders will "explore the passage of time and connection to locations, history and present" and experience "both a physical and emotional journey." Cantor notes, "Doorways are both a metaphor and a physical fact of the project. It's an innovative experiment in combining site-specific audience experience with filmed dance."

The project's QR Codes will be placed from Thursday, Sept. 10 to Sunday, Oct. 4, the duration of the Fringe Festival.
