Degree Goals are Tied to Degree Requirements

Below are listed the goals for chemistry graduate students followed by a list of those requirements that support the development of each goal.

Goal (1) To prepare high-level independent thinkers capable of succeeding in a variety of careers in Chemistry

Goal (2) To develop the appropriate technical and intellectual skills for a successful career as a researcher

Goal (3) To contribute a body of original scholarship to the field

Goal (5) To develop a comprehensive body of knowledge about a particular subdiscipline of Chemistry

Goal (6) To become an effective teacher for undergraduate students and to develop skills mentoring students in the research laboratory
