Xiao Wang (Physics) defends dissertation "Magnetic Skyrmions in Multilayers with Interfactial Dzaloshinskii-Moriya Interactions"
The Graduate School of Arts and Sciences is pleased to announce that Xiao Wang of the Department of Physics has successfully defended her dissertation "Magnetic Skyrmions in Multilayers with Interfactial Dzaloshinskii-Moriya Interactions." Xiao defended via Zoom on April 22nd. Her dissertation was advised by Associate Professor of Physics Xuemei May Cheng.
Xiao's research is in the area of magnetic skyrmions. Magnetic skyrmions are topologically stable spin textures that can be driven by electric currents. Through looking at the behavior of skyrmions, Xiao's work contributes to our understanding of a phenomenon that has both rich physics and potential applications in future technology such as spintronic devices for data storage.
