Director of Multilingual Writing

Bryn Mawr College has an opening for a Director of Multilingual Writing.

The Bryn Mawr College Writing Program seeks a Director of Multilingual Writing to lead ongoing program development for multilingual students, including multidialectal and international students. The Director teaches three writing-intensive courses for multilingual writers per year (2-1). Occasional teaching in the first-year college-wide writing seminar program is possible. The successful candidate will also organize placement for first-year international students; consult with faculty around issues of multilingual pedagogy; meet individually with students; develop co-curricular activities for multilingual writers; provide supplemental training to the Writing Center staff; and remain current with scholarly conversations related to second-language writing. The position, defined as professional staff with teaching, starts on or before July 1, 2025.

The successful candidate will collaborate with the other members of the Writing Program to develop a comprehensive, shared vision for developing students’ linguistic and rhetorical proficiency in writing and speaking within a linguistic justice framework.

Minimum qualifications: a master’s degree in writing studies, English, linguistics, education, or a related field, and 1 year of experience teaching writing at the college level and/or working in a writing center or writing program

Preferred:

  • Ph.D. in writing studies, English, linguistics, education, or a related field
  • Formal training in or substantial experience with second-language writing, anti-racist pedagogy and assessment, or teaching English as an additional language
  • 2 or more years of experience teaching writing at the college level and/or working in a writing center or writing program
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
