Bryn Mawr Internal Funding Opportunities
The Department of Russian is awarding funds in the form of George L. Kline Fellowships to students wishing to study in Russia. These fellowships were established by a Bryn Mawr alumna, Irene Darden Field, in honor of Professor Emeritus George L. Kline, who taught for many years in the Philosophy and Russian Departments at Bryn Mawr. These fellowships are intended to support current and graduating students from Bryn Mawr and Haverford who want to pursue language study, specialized coursework, or independent research in a Russian-speaking country and need financial assistance in order to accomplish their goals.
A source of last dollar funding for students who are studying at RLI, RLASP Summer with American Councils, or Russian Overseas Flagship (Overseas Flagship Capstone Course). Applicants must be in the Bryn Mawr Flagship program and registered in the Flagship database.
The Scholarship is open to rising sophomores, rising juniors and rising seniors who would otherwise not have the opportunity to study abroad during their undergraduate years.
The Thomas Raeburn White Scholarships were established by Amos and Dorothy Peaslee in honor of Thomas Raeburn White, Trustee of the College from 1907-1959. The Scholarship program provides funding for summer language instruction, usually abroad.
Global Bryn Mawr and Study Abroad are partnering to offer Bryn Mawr undergraduate students funding to support U.S. passport application fees.
The Global Bryn Mawr Funding Database lists all funds provided through the Bi-Co for Bryn Mawr undergraduates to travel abroad. This includes opportunities for research, learning, and work in international contexts, such as grants, scholarships, fellowships, and structured programs.
This database is managed by the Global Bryn Mawr office, which coordinates and communicates the College's global engagement in the arenas of learning, community, and infrastructure. The office’s official Bryn Mawr webpage can be found under Contacts on this website. For more information about this database please get in touch with the Global Bryn Mawr Graduate Assistant (at global@brynmawr.edu).

Overseas Programs with Available Funding
The Critical Language Scholarship (CLS) Program is an immersive summer opportunity for American college and university students to learn languages essential to America's engagement with the world.
One of the longest-running and most respected Russian language and cultural immersion programs, RLASP combines intensive classroom instruction with a wide range of extracurricular activities, including volunteer opportunities and community service, regional field studies, conversation partners, and discussion groups with local students.
Research Fellowships
Each year, Bryn Mawr students apply for a number of prestigious national scholarships and fellowships, often with great success. These fellowships may provide funding for the last years of undergraduate education, for graduate education both in the United States and abroad, or even for travel and independent research not tied to an academic institution.
