Additional Course Info | Class Number: 2311 This a topics course that explores various themes in American social history. Course content varies. Course may be repeated.; Current topic description: Americans have often resisted oppression through radical means. Although commonly erased by history or marginalized in memory as ineffective or even the cause of great tragedies, in fact radical individuals and movements have profoundly transformed the course of American history. This seminar focuses on key radical movements and actors from the ante bellum era through today. We will explore narratives of personalities, events, and national crises. This class will focus on politics rather than culture and on those usually characterized historically as left wing.
