Hiring DSPA for film annotation project, “Paul Thomas Annotated: In the Margins”
LITS is hiring two Bryn Mawr students to work as Digital Scholarship Project Assistants on “Paul Thomas Annotated: In the Margins,” a film annotation project led by Professor José Vergara.
“Paul Thomas Annotated: In the Margins” is an open-access digital annotation project devoted to Paul Thomas Anderson’s filmography. It aims to provide pathways into his work by annotating, scene by scene, each of his nine narrative films to date: Hard Eight, Boogie Nights, Magnolia, Punch-Drunk Love, There Will Be Blood, The Master, Inherent Vice, Phantom Thread, and Licorice Pizza. It will be an educational tool for students, teachers, viewers, and fans of the director’s work.
The DSPAs will collaborate with staff, faculty, and students on the project. Work may include capturing and processing screenshots for annotation and publication, working with image metadata and annotation data in JSON form; designing, developing, and publishing a website; and other duties as assigned.
