'Afrykas and the Magic Box' Film Screening
Isabel Rivero-Vilá's award-winning documentary Afrykas and The Magic Box is a journey and a tribute to Senegalese cinema, its filmmakers, and its actors. Spectators will follow the camera into the everyday life of the people interviewed. The documentary will help us understand the uniqueness of Senegalese cinema, and the importance of the mother figure in Senegalese society.
Isabel Rivero-Vilá specializes in West African cinema and is currently on the faculty at American University in Washington DC. She teaches documentary film seminars in Senegal and organizes Film festivals to promote diversity, equity, and inclusion through film.
