Career+Civic: Girls Who Code/Certara Coding Workshop

Software Engineers from Certara will be on campus to run a coding workshop. The workshop is presented by Girls Who Code, Certara, and the Career & Civic Engagement Center. Pizza will be provided and to-go boxes will be available for anyone fasting. Students from all class years and majors are welcome to attend, especially students in the GWC group, prospective/current Computer Science majors, and anyone preparing for a software engineering internship.

- Introduction to Docker & Containers: What is Docker and Containerization?
- Building a Docker Image for a Web App: Writing a Dockerfile from scratch.
- Running and Managing Containers: Starting, stopping, and debugging containers.
- Docker Networking & Volumes: Enabling communication and data persistence.
- Orchestrating with Docker Compose: Managing multi-container applications.
- Deploying the Dockerized App: Pushing to Docker Hub and running in production.
By the end of the session, attendees will have built, run, and deployed their own containerized web application, gaining practical skills to apply Docker in real-world development.
