The Project for New Media and Politics presents Democracy on the Ballot?, a panel discussion on the 2022 midterm elections. 

Panelists:

  • Will Bunch - a Pulitzer Prize-winning national columnist for the Philadelphia Inquirer and author of the 2022 book After the Ivory Tower Falls: How College Broke the American Dream and Blew Up Our Politics―and How to Fix It.
  • Nina Johnson, Ph.D. - an associate professor in the Department of Sociology and Anthropology and the Program in Black Studies at Swarthmore College. Professor Johnson’s research interests lie in the areas of inequality, politics, race, space, class, culture, stratification and mobility.
  • Matthew Kerbel, Ph.D. - a professor of Political Science at Villanova University. Professor Kerbel is the author or editor of nine books on the presidency, mass media and political parties.
  • Haley Norris - completing their dissertation at Rutgers University, New Brunswick, their work focuses on the political representation of queer politics, the groundbreaking election of Danica Roem, and the status of women in elected office in Western Europe.
  • Sharon Ullman, Ph.D. (Moderator) - a professor of American History at Bryn Mawr College whose research interests range far and wide across the modern American landscape.

This event is co-sponsored by the departments of Sociology, Political Science, History, the Center for Social Science, and the Program in Gender and Sexuality Studies.
