Health at Every Size

Join us for a presentation by Dr. Beth Blum on the Health at Every Size (HAES) movement and the effects of weight stigma on the health of people in larger bodies.
The HAES movement emphasizes that health is possible regardless of body size as well as intuitive eating and joyful movement. People in larger bodies may suffer lack of treatment due to medical conditions going undiagnosed when providers attribute their symptoms to weight rather than attempting to diagnose the issue.
Participants will be introduced to concepts of the HAES paradigm. They will learn about the origins of weight stigma, its impacts on patients and society at large, and how we as future medical practitioners could affect positive change utilizing the tenets of HAES.
Dr. Beth Blum is a board-certified physician specializing in osteopathic neuromusculoskeletal medicine. She is a HAES provider and has a private practice in West Philadelphia. For more information, visit her website at www.phillyosteopathic.com.
