Come to one (or all three) days for this virtual workshop to learn how to make accessible materials including: Word docs, Google Docs, PowerPoint, Excel spreadsheets, PDFs, and more!
In this three-day workshop, we will go through the basics of how to create accessible documents from scratch and how to remediate already-created course documents, including PDFs. On the third day of the workshop, we will have a guided group practice session where you will have the opportunity to come with your current course documents and files and receive one-on-one support with making them accessible.
Schedule: Jan. 10-12, 1-2 p.m. each day on Zoom
Monday, Jan. 10: How to Create Accessible Materials from Scratch: In this session, we will first explore the basics of what makes a file accessible and then walk through how to ensure accessibility when you create a new file, as well as how to check the accessibility of older files. We will cover Word docs, Google docs, Pages, PowerPoint, Google Slides, Keynote, Excel spreadsheets, Google sheets, and Numbers.
Tuesday, Jan. 11: All About PDFs: In this session, we will talk about how to create an accessible PDF from scratch as well as how to remediate common accessibility issues found in PDFs.
Wednesday, Jan. 12: Guided Practice: On Wednesday, come with any files you are currently working on or plan to use for using this semester. Together we'll practice making our files accessible and you can receive guided help with any questions particular to your file(s).
Can't make all three days? No problem! Come for whatever days you can. This workshop also will be hosted again once the semester starts. Additionally, Guided Practice "drop-in hours" will be available each week throughout the semester. Stay tuned to the Daily Digest for more details!
