Interactive Visual Art Workshop on Transracial Adoptee Identity
This workshop prompts transracial adoptees to explore the complexities of their racial and cultural identity through visual art.
During the workshop, we will create a collage-style metaphorical self-portrait using a cooking recipe template. By using newspaper clippings, language workbook pages, baby photos, maps, etc, we will create a recipe of the self.
This workshop will embrace the idea that cooking can be self-taught, it does not have to be passed down. Like any art, it is a reflection of the body and the soul and has the malleability to represent the cultural complexities of the self.
