Kala Navarasa Presents '9 Emotions' Showcase
This showcase highlights how art can be used to express emotions, with a focus on two forms of South Asian classical dance: Bharatanatyam and Odissi. Through these art forms, we portray nine fundamental emotions contained in the Natya Shastra, the ancient Indian book of dance. These are: Humor, Courage, Compassion, Fear, Disgust, Love, Wonder, Peace, and Anger. Each will be shown by our classical dancers and our guest performers, who include: Sankeerthna Vedantam, Tiffiany Lan, Shift, HaverRitMo, and Afreen.
In recognition of how different languages convey the same emotions, our show has music in nine languages (English, Telugu, Hindi, Punjabi, Sanskrit, Tamil, Korean, Spanish, and Chinese).
Welcome to all members of the Tri-Co community, including students and staff.
Kala performers: Ankita Gayatri Jain, Trishna Devi Rao, Tanvi Jha, Aishwarya Gowrishankar.
