Breaking Barriers Program

What is "undocumented"? How are people with this status impacted? How does this connect to my work on campus? Consider attending the UndocuAlly Series to learn more!

This is part one of the UndocuAlly Series two-part presentation which focuses on creating and promoting awareness on undocumented identifying students at Bryn Mawr College, their experiences, and ways to support them throughout their college experience and beyond.

In this session, we will discuss how status is defined at the federal level and at U.S. higher education institutions. We will also go over some of the federal and institutional policies that impact undocumented students in their educational, professional, and personal aspirations and needs. We hope that by learning more about the policies in place, participants will be able to gain a better understanding on the “why?” and “how?” undocumented individuals encounter and experience the challenges that they do as well as the attempts that have been made to address these obstacles. Session Time: 1 hour 30 minutes

Participants may choose to attend any one or all of the sessions offered. Those interested in gaining a holistic understanding on the undocumented student experience and ways to support them should consider attending both sessions in the order presented. The series is offered through The Pensby Center for Community Development & Inclusion's Breaking Barriers Program and facilitated by Leslie Castrejon,  assistant dean for Student Support & Belonging.
