WEW: 2023 Keynote with Maya Shanbhag Lang
Maya Shanbhag Lang, Swat alum and author of What We Carry, will speak about how competing narratives, emerging from school and home, impact our relationship with wellness.
Maya will speak on "The stories we tell ourselves: competing narratives and shifting identities."
Joan Didion said that we tell stories in order to live. If stories are a coping mechanism, an attempt at organizing the self, how do we change our stories over time? How do we know if they're accurate? What happens when our narratives shift, creating tension with those around us, especially our families? This talk will explore how our stories hold power over us—and how we can revise them.
Keynote will be followed by Q&A session with snacks!
This event is open to Tri-Co community.
