Fellowship: Lagim Tehi Tuma: Live, Study, and Work this Summer in the BiCo and Northern Ghana
Applications due Feb. 5
Lagim Tehi Tuma (“Thinking Together” in Dagbani), is a BiCo fellowship that combines intensive team-building, collaborative study, and education-focused projects to foster dialogue about culture, power, history, and learning.
Led by Education Professor Alice Lesnick and a Dalun- and BiCo-based team, and in collaboration with the University of Development Studies in Tamale, Fellows work with a local preschool, the community radio station, and an Internet training centre.
Program Structure
Fellows -- 3 from HC and 3 from BMC -- engage in one week of home-based study, writing, Dagbani learning, and online communication followed by one week of continued study, team building, and planning at Bryn Mawr. They then travel to Accra for an academic orientation at the University of Ghana-Legon, then to Dalun to join with 3 Fellows from the University for Development Studies for 6 weeks of continued study, internship/action research, Dagbani lessons, reflection (group and individual), and community and area experiences. The BiCo group will then return home for one week of debriefing, assessment and self-assessment, and academic planning. Learn more.
