Information Session: First Drop-In Praxis Independent Study Information Session
Saturday, Oct. 29, 12:30PM-2:30PM, Civic Engagement Office (Dolwen, Cambrian Row)
Are you part of the Classes of 2017, 2018 or 2019? Want to create a course uniquely tailored to your own academic, career, and civic interests? Attend the first drop-in PIS information session to start the process now!
Praxis Independent Study Courses combine an 8-10 hour per week fieldwork/internship experience with academic study. These are self-designed, experiential learning courses that are advised by faculty, who meet with students throughout the semester. Most students do their fieldwork off campus but there are many instances of on-campus fieldwork.
To get started:
- Read through the Praxis Independent Study overview page.
- Review the Praxis Independent Study Tutorial.
- Submit a Praxis Proposal.
- Meet with Nell Anderson (nanderso@brynmawr.edu) or Kelly Strunk (kstrunk@brynmawr.edu) for guidance in reaching out to potential faculty advisors and fieldwork sites.
- Complete the Learning Plan (this serves as the syllabus for the course) by December 21.
