Math's Spring 2019 Graduates Celebrate Commencement and Convocation, Earn Honors
Convocation and Commencement brought the Bryn Mawr College community together in a weekend of celebration that included student and faculty awards.
Assistant Professor of Mathematics Erica Graham was the 2019-2020 recipient of the Rosabeth Moss Kanter Change Master Fund. This fund was “established by Mrs. Kanter (A.B. Class of 1964) to make a ‘change master’ award for demonstrated contributions to social betterment through scholarship.” Faculty awards were presented at Commencement on Saturday, May 18.
At Convocation on Friday, May 17, Junyan Duan '19 received the Anna Pell Wheeler Prize, which is awarded to an undergraduate for excellence in mathematics. Junyan wrote an honors thesis on “Modeling the Development and Transmission of HIV.”
Xinya Wang '19 was awarded the Charlotte Angas Scott Prize in Mathematics. Xinya wrote an honors thesis on “An Introduction to Khovanov Homology and Related Knot Invariants.”
Leah Baker '19 and Natalie Meacham '19 won the 2019 Mary Louise Cookson Prize in Mathematics in recognition of their exceptional service that has contributed to the life of the department. This prize was established in 2007 in honor of Mary Louise Cookson’s extraordinary contributions to mathematics at Bryn Mawr College.
