Professor of History of Art Alicia Walker was recently named a Senior Fellow in the Program of Byzantine Studies at the Dumbarton Oaks Research Center, a Harvard University research institute, library, museum, and garden located in Georgetown, Washington D.C. The Senior Fellows committee advises the Director of Dumbarton Oaks on all aspects of research concerning Byzantine Studies at the center, including fellowships and other awards, scholarly conferences, publications, and digital initiatives.
Walker’s primary fields of research include cross-cultural artistic interaction in the medieval world from the ninth to thirteenth centuries and gender issues in the art and material culture of Byzantium.
