Class of 2018: Azalia Sprecher

April 11, 2018
Azalia Sprecher

Post-graduation plans: Moving back home to Texas to apply what she has learned to her hometown setting and bring a new perspective to her community.

Azalia on her Bryn Mawr experience: “Growing up I always thought I'd know exactly what I wanted to do with my life after college. At first I was daunted by the fact that I didn't have a 'plan.' I was also afraid that my lack of a 'plan' would reflect poorly on my part and portray me as a 'bad' student. I used to think I needed a fancy job title or fellowship to validate my time at Bryn Mawr. After a lot of self-reflection, I realized that I am proud of what I've accomplished so far and that all good things come with time. My time at Bryn Mawr has shown me that I have options and the ability to reinvent and challenge myself and try new things.”

Major: History

Minor: Latin American, Iberian, and Latino/a Studies

  • Working at Erdman Dining Hall—learning humility, accountability, and teamwork
  • Mujeres* Latinx Affinity Organization—feeling at home in a community and learning about identity, advocacy, and the importance of building a space for marginalized voices
