Thanks to a heads up from Eleanor Stanford in the Fellowships Office, Taylor Ferreira '25 will be spending three weeks in July at University College London taking part in its Geography and the Built Environment program.
"Over winter break, Eleanor Stanford reached out to me and told me that I was eligible to apply for the Fulbright Summer Programs," says Ferreira. "I read through the description of the Fulbright programs and immediately felt drawn to the Geography and the Built Environment program at UCL. I am interested in the field of environmental science, which is why I was ecstatic when I was accepted into this program, where I will further my studies dealing with climate change."
The Fulbright UK Summer Institutes are three-to four-week programs for U.S. undergraduate students who have no or very little travel experience outside North America.
"I plan to do all the touristy things, naturally: visit Big Ben, go to the Natural History and Science Museum in London, go on the Warner Bros. Making of Harry Potter studio tour, etc. I want to truly immerse myself in London’s culture and create long-lasting connections with my peers and professors."
When she returns to campus in the fall, Ferreira, who plans to major in chemistry and minor in Spanish, will be taking organic chemistry and calculus I at Bryn Mawr and a religion course at Haverford College. She also has a lab preparation position with Lisa Watkins for general chemistry.
