Full-Time Students Eligible for 240 Free Rides a Month on Septa with New Program

August 20, 2024

The below message was sent to undergraduate and graduate students on Friday, August 16.

Dear Students,

We are excited to announce Bryn Mawr’s participation in SEPTA’s Key Advantage UPass Program starting this September. Made possible by a partnership between your SGA and the administration, the program is aligned with the College’s deep commitment to climate justice, sustainability, and a vibrant student experience that allows students access to explore Philadelphia and all surrounding counties.

Your free Key Card can be used anywhere on SEPTA’s network of subways, buses, trolleys, and regional rail lines during the fall and spring semesters — September through December and February through May. During those months, your pass will be valid at all times and on all services provided by SEPTA, with a 240-ride limit per month (8 rides per day). During off months — January, June, and July — your Key Card will still be active, but you will need to load your own funds if you wish to use it.

UPass is for full-time Bryn Mawr undergraduate students who are not on leave or studying abroad and for graduate students who are neither in the registration category of continuing enrollment (CE) nor on leave.

In addition to facilitating social and co-curricular activities, the Keycard can be used for field trips, internships, community service, and class assignments at locations accessible by public transit. We hope you all take full advantage of this opportunity to explore everything the region has to offer!

Cards will be available for pick up Sept. 3-11. Please visit the SEPTA Key Advantage UPass Program page for your school's days, times, and pick up locations, information on how to enroll, and more.

With gratitude,
Dean Karlene, Dean of the Undergraduate College
