Joanna Birkner '16 recently received the unfortunate news that she won't be teaching in Turkey this year on a Fulbright award. However, as Birkner tells The New York Times, she still intends to travel to the unsettled country and sees the recent coup attempt and unrest there as "more of a reason that there need to be young Americans who can speak the language, who can understand the conflict from the ground up.”
