Message From Bryn Mawr President Kim Cassidy and Haverford President Kim Benston
The following message was sent to the Bryn Mawr community via email on Sunday, Nov. 13
Dear members of the Bryn Mawr and Haverford communities:
We are deeply concerned about reported incidents of post-election violence and threats to students at local educational institutions and across the country. We write to express our strong support for every person who has been hurt or menaced by these heinous acts, and to all who are fearful as a result. We promise our vigorous commitment to ensuring the safety of everyone on our campuses.
The senior leadership of BiCo Campus Safety, Tom King and Lil Burroughs, has communicated with local police departments to strengthen their partnership in heightening vigilance throughout our area. Additionally, they are in communication with officials at nearby universities where these incidents have occurred so that the department can use any pertinent information as needed. Meanwhile, they remind campus members that their officers are available to provide escorts at any time.
We understand that members of our communities may feel vulnerable and scared. We urge you to seek support via the many campus support systems including the deans' office, the counseling center and campus safety, as well as special gatherings that address recent events. We will continue our efforts to bring the campuses together to provide support and advocacy for one another.
We ask that you be mindful in following good safety practices. We urge anyone who observes anything unusual to immediately contact Campus Safety at 610-896-1111 or 610-526-7911.
Respectfully,
Kim Benston/President, Haverford
Kim Cassidy/President, Bryn Mawr
