Shaughnessy Naughton ’99 was featured on NPR's All Things Considered on February 22. Listen or read the transcript online.

Host Michel Martin interviewed Naughton about the fear of climate change policy under President Trump and how STEM groups are working to get more scientists to run for office.

Naughton is the founder of 314 Action, a nonprofit that advocates for real solutions to climate change as well as encourages more STEM-trained candidates to run for elective office.

In the interview, Naughton says, "I was really surprised at the lack of people [in Congress] with scientific or technical backgrounds. And I think we all benefit by having diversity of experience in government. And so I founded 314 Action to unite the scientific community and to encourage them to go beyond the traditional role of advocacy and actually get involved in electoral politics."

In addition, to her work with 314 Action, she is a chemist and entrepreneur. To view her full biography, read here.
