Haley Varnum ’19 and Nam Khanh Nhat Nguyen ’18 Win Prizes at the American Chemical Society Philly Event

A poster by Haley Varnum ’19 and Nam Khanh Nhat Nguyen ’18 took second place overall for undergraduates at the 17th annual Student Poster Session hosted by the Philadelphia Younger Chemist Committee of the American Chemical Society at The University of the Sciences.

Their project, “Synthetic Pathway to Molybdenum Cofactor Model Complexes” also won the Drexel University award for excellence in undergraduate inorganic chemistry.

Nam and Haley worked on the project with Dean of Graduate Studies and Professor of Chemistry Sharon Burgmayer as well as Ph.D. Candidate Doug Gisewhite M.A. ’14.

Both Nam and Haley are student athletes at Bryn Mawr. Nam plays lacrosse and Haley is a cross country/track and field runner.
