The Glide Year
If you are not going to medical school following completion of your postbac year, we will assist you in your search for a medically related job in the “glide year” - the time between when you complete our program and enroll at medical school.
Because our program is so well respected in the medical community, we regularly receive job leads and postings, including positions created with our students in mind. Recent graduates of our program also provide us with information and contacts about where they are working during their glide year, and even pass their jobs on as they enter medical school. These jobs are posted to an internal online database.
For example, our students have recently worked as:
- Clinical research coordinator for a study for the POAAGG (Primary Open-Angle African-American Glaucoma Genetics) study at the Scheie Eye Institute at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania
- Clinical research assistants for a variety of studies at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia
- Public health interns and project coordinators at the New York State Department of Health AIDS Institute, New York City
- AmeriCorps Health Coach at the Camden Coalition of Healthcare Providers (CCHP), a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the quality, coordination, and accessibility of healthcare for Camden residents
- Research assistant with the University of California San Francisco Breast Care Center Project
- Postbac IRTA (Intramural Research Training Award) Research Fellowship at the National Institutes of Health
- Princeton in Latin America fellow in El Salvador; working at an NGO working to combat childhood nutrition
- Radiation Oncology Departmental Data Coordinator at Brigham and Women’s Hospital
At Bryn Mawr, our faculty and our staff are committed to helping you realize your dream of a career in medicine.
