Seasoned therapists know that theory and practice are different. Advanced practitioners that have mastered the basics of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) usually have several common struggles. One is difficulty with Cognitive Therapy Case Conceptualization.  Another is the desire for more practice in specific CBT techniques. Lastly, many therapists express concern that it can be difficult to use these techniques in a way that accounts for the individual needs of each client and isn’t “one size fits all.”

Using an active learning approach, this course will use demonstration videos, role plays and small group discussion to help therapists conceptualize cases and practice some of the main CBT interventions. Special focus will be given on how to tailor the session to the client and how to attend to the therapeutic process when using a CBT framework.
