Assistive Technology: Features and Resources

Assistive technology is any tool that assists you in doing your daily activities. At Bryn Mawr, you can meet with the assistive technology specialist to find tools to help you with academic tasks. Explore some of our resources on this page.  

Assistive Technology Tools

Reading 

  • Helperbird: Helperbird is a Google Chrome extension that provides tools to help with reading websites and PDFs, as well as features to help with writing and studying. 
  • Immersive Reader: Immersive Reader reads emails, documents, and other material aloud, allows you to modify how text appears, and provides language translation features. 
  • Natural Reader Online Reader: The Natural Reader Online Reader allows you to upload a variety of file types (.doc, .pdf, .ppt, to name a few) to have them read aloud.  
  • Natural Reader (extension): The Natural Reader extension reads websites and emails aloud. 

Writing 

  • Grammarly: Grammarly is a grammar checker. 
  • Ginger: Ginger is a grammar checker 

App Database: Tools for Note-Taking, Time Management, and More

We have a CC TV in the Minerva Lab available for use. Please contact Grace Cipressi with any questions.
