A comprehensive program for first-generation and limited-income students.
Breaking Barriers is led by the Associate Director of Support & Belonging as part of the Impact Center. The group provides mentorship, programming, support services, and resources to first-generation and limited-income students (FGLI).
Who We Support

FGLI Students
First-generation and limited-income students can find a community of peers and mentors who can provide guidance, support, and resources to help navigate the college experience.
How We Support
Joining the Community
Breaking Barriers Scholars may identify with one or more of the following experiences and are part of a larger community composed of peers, staff, and faculty at Bryn Mawr who share these experiences. All eligible incoming students are initially invited to the program; however, anyone may opt-in at any point throughout their time at Bryn Mawr.
To be eligible, students must identify with at least one of the following,
- First-Generation
- Limited-Income
