Spring 2019

Award Winning Play About the Rich, Complex World of Teenage Girls

The Wolves by Sarah DeLappe, directed by Catharine Slusar, a Barrymore Award-winning actor, director, and Bryn Mawr College assistant professor of theater, closed the Bi-Co Theater Program’s 2018-19 season. The play follows an elite high school-age girls’ soccer team as they confront both new and familiar adversaries each week on and off the turf. From romance to dictators and periods to genocide, each player must grapple with the weight of her own identity in the tumultuous world of Generation Z, where the line between calm and chaos can be decimated with a single text message.

First produced in 2016, Sarah DeLappe’s The Wolves premiered off-Broadway at The Playwrights Realm, after an engagement with New York Stage and Film, and development with Clubbed Thumb and The Great Plains Theater Conference. The Wolves won the American Playwriting Foundation's inaugural Relentless Award, and was a finalist for the Susan Smith Blackburn Prize and the Yale Prize. DeLappe is currently Page One Writer at The Playwrights Realm, Resident Writer at LCT3, and an alum of Clubbed Thumb Early Career Writers Group, the New Georges Audrey Residency, SPACE on Ryder Farm, and the Sitka Fellows Program.
